The annual percentage rate takes into account the compounding effect of the 12 lease payments made each year.
If you were to pay all lease instalments in a single annual payment on 31 December, the nominal interest rate would be equivalent to the annual percentage rate.
In most cases, the annual percentage rate is higher than the nominal interest rate. As lease payments are made monthly and in advance, the nominal interest rate used to calculate the monthly instalment differs from the annual percentage rate.
Absolutely. You can also lease a used vehicle. Contact your brand partner to learn more about our current offers or browse available vehicles here.
A down payment includes any upfront payment towards your leased vehicle, as well as the trade-in value of your current vehicle. A down payment reduces the amount financed and therefore lowers your monthly lease instalments.

You may make a down payment of up to 49.9% of the gross vehicle price. The down payment must be made before the vehicle is delivered.
No. The down payment is a one-time payment made to reduce the monthly lease instalments and is not refundable.
No. The interest rate and monthly lease instalments remain fixed for the entire duration of the lease agreement. Only changes to VAT or other public charges may result in an increase or decrease in the lease instalments.

In principle, a lease agreement can be amended at any time. Please contact your sales consultant, who will be happy to explain the available options and provide you with a tailored quotation.
Yes, this is generally possible. A new lease application is required, and both the application and the prospective lessee will be assessed by AMAG Leasing AG. The terms and conditions applicable at that time will apply. An identical takeover of the existing contract is not possible.

Purchasing a leased vehicle at the end of the lease term
As a general rule, the lessee does not have a contractual right to purchase the vehicle. However, a purchase may be possible with the approval of the supplying dealer, who is contractually obliged to take back the vehicle.
Please contact the delivering dealer specified in your lease agreement directly. They can advise whether the vehicle can be purchased and provide the applicable buyout value.
Explanation of the Right of First Refusal
In accordance with Section 1.3 of the General Leasing Terms and Conditions, the vehicle remains the sole property of the lessor throughout the lease term and after the lease agreement has ended or been terminated.
The lessee has no entitlement to acquire the vehicle and is required to return it, in accordance with the contractual requirements, to the lessor or to an entity designated by the lessor at the end of the agreement. The estimated residual value shown in the lease agreement is provided solely for informational purposes.
In addition, a vehicle repurchase obligation is agreed between AMAG Leasing AG and the supplying dealer when the lease agreement is concluded. Under this agreement, the dealer commits to repurchasing the vehicle at the end of the lease term at a predefined value (the residual value). This contractual repurchase obligation gives rise to the dealer’s right of first refusal.
The book value is the current value of a leased vehicle as of a specific date or in the event of premature termination of the lease agreement.
For book value enquiries, please contact your sales consultant or the responsible dealership directly.
The residual value is determined at the start of the lease agreement and represents the contractually agreed value of the vehicle at the end of the lease term.
Please note that, according to the purchase agreement, the dealer holds the right of first refusal. Any final negotiations regarding the purchase of the vehicle take place directly between you and the dealer, who will determine the final buyout price. AMAG Leasing AG is not involved in these negotiations.

If adequate insurance coverage is not in place, the lessee is responsible for covering any damage costs..
Please contact your dealer directly.
Yes. Lease instalments must continue to be paid until we have received the insurance settlement.
The final calculation is carried out retroactively from the date of the loss and will be credited to the next contract settlement. Any instalments paid beyond this amount will be refunded to you.

Legal information
AMAG calculates the monthly lease instalment using a formula based on the requirements of the Swiss Consumer Credit Act.
Depreciation costs during the lease term represent the decrease in value of the leased vehicle and vary from one vehicle to another.
The depreciation is defined as the difference between the net financing amount and the residual value.
Example:
| Description | Amount |
|---|---|
| Gross vehicle price | CHF 50,000 |
| Less discounts / incentives | CHF 5,000 |
| Net financing amount | CHF 45,000 |
| Residual value | CHF 25,000 |
| Depreciation costs | CHF 20,000 |
Together with every lease agreement, you will receive our General Leasing Terms and Conditions.
The General Leasing Terms and Conditions govern the legal relationship between the lessor, AMAG Leasing AG, and the lessee and form an integral part of the lease agreement.
To be considered creditworthy, you must not have any negative entries with the Central Office for Credit Information (ZEK).
In addition, you should not have any ongoing debt enforcement proceedings or outstanding loss certificates.
Insufficient creditworthiness may result in a lease application being declined.
You are considered financially affordable if your personal budget assessment results in a disposable amount of CHF 0 or more.
In addition to creditworthiness, affordability is the second requirement that must be met for a lease application to be approved.
Leasing is not permitted if it would lead to consumer over-indebtedness. Therefore, insufficient affordability will result in a lease application being declined.
Online Video Identification is a digital service used to verify the identity of the lessee in accordance with applicable Swiss anti-money laundering regulations.
It allows you to complete the identification process conveniently from home or while on the move.
Please note: The standard process is a quick and straightforward identification procedure carried out directly at the vehicle dealership.
Under the Swiss Consumer Credit Act, we are required to collect personal information, including details about your income, rent, and any existing financial commitments.
All customer information is treated confidentially and handled with the utmost discretion.
AMAG Leasing AG is legally required to assess both your creditworthiness and affordability based on the information you provide.
Leasing may not be granted if it would result in the consumer becoming over-indebted.
The Swiss Consumer Credit Act helps protect consumers in Switzerland from excessive debt by establishing clear rules for consumer credit and leasing agreements.
The Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act combats money laundering and terrorist financing and helps ensure that financial transactions are conducted with appropriate due diligence.
Accidents & Insurance
If you have received such a letter, your lease agreement has been selected and pledged as collateral to reduce the risk for investors providing capital. This letter forms part of the legally required process for handling the financing transaction.
When financing is structured through a Covered Bond, customers must be informed if their lease agreement is affected by the security assignment. The generation of these letters is outside our influence, as agreements are selected on a random basis.
You may continue to use your vehicle as usual and continue paying your lease instalments without any changes.
A bond is a form of borrowing. For example, AMAG Leasing AG raises capital from investors for a specified period and at a defined interest rate.
Bonds are traded on stock exchanges and are interest-bearing securities. A standard bond is typically issued without collateral. This is similar to an unsecured loan or line of credit.
When you choose a leasing solution, AMAG Leasing AG purchases the selected vehicle from the supplying dealer and pays the purchase price. You then enter into a lease agreement with AMAG Leasing AG.
To purchase vehicles, AMAG Leasing AG requires funding and has various options for obtaining the necessary capital.
One of these options is to access the capital markets and issue bonds.
With the establishment of AMAG Leasing Auto Covered Bond AG, AMAG Leasing AG created a subsidiary company that supports its funding activities. As part of this financing structure, lease agreements are randomly selected and pledged as collateral to reduce the risk for investors.
An Auto Covered Bond is a special type of bond that is backed by additional collateral.
In Switzerland, Covered Bonds are best known in the mortgage market, where large portfolios of mortgages are pooled and refinanced. In the case of AMAG Leasing AG, lease agreements rather than mortgages serve as the collateral provided to investors.
Lease liabilities
Sole proprietorships and partnerships are not separate legal entities and generally enter into private lease agreements.
For this reason, leasing costs cannot be deducted in a Swiss tax return.
The remaining lease instalments that are still payable are added together. This amount represents the company's outstanding liability towards AMAG Leasing AG.
Example:
Total lease term: 48 months
Lease instalments already recorded and paid: 32 months
Remaining lease instalments (48 months less 32 months): 16 months
Remaining lease liability (16 months × monthly instalment of CHF 863.65): CHF 13,818.40
Statements of lease liabilities for business lease agreements are automatically sent by post each year between the beginning of January and the end of January.
If you require a lease liability statement for a different period, please contact us at +41 848 25 24 00 and specify the required period.
Lease liabilities are the financial obligations of a company (legal entity) towards AMAG Leasing AG arising from existing lease agreements.
Under a lease agreement, the vehicle is made available to the user (the lessee) in exchange for periodic payments. The remaining lease instalments that the lessee is required to pay to AMAG Leasing AG over the remaining term of the agreement are referred to as lease liabilities.
Business use of a leased vehicle may allow the lease instalments incurred during the previous financial year to be treated as a deductible business expense, subject to applicable tax regulations.
In accordance with the Swiss Code of Obligations, companies must disclose the remaining amount of these obligations as contingent liabilities in the notes to their annual financial statements.
Not at all.
If you lease a vehicle, you are not the owner of the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle does not constitute a taxable asset and does not need to be declared as part of your personal wealth.
Leasing costs for private individuals cannot be deducted in a Swiss tax return, unlike certain other forms of personal financing such as a private loan.
No.
If a vehicle is leased exclusively for private use, the monthly lease instalments cannot be deducted from taxable income. The leased vehicle is considered to be for personal use and therefore does not qualify for a tax deduction.
